CUMBERLAND COURT
The brief for this project was to extend an existing local interest, three-storey, art deco block of flats to include a fourth-storey penthouse apartment for the building owner.
In order to ensure a clear narrative in regard to the historic fabric, a clear distinction is made with grey zinc cladding contrasting the red multi stock brick of the existing building. Full height, floor to ceiling windows further emphasises the break and allows the penthouse to take advantage of views directly out towards the sea.
The interior has been configured to provide a large open plan living area with abundant natural light entering through the full height windows, sliding doors, and roof lights.
This space opens out on to a shared terrace from the living space and a private terrace from the master bedroom.
